Esteemed Woodcrafts is dedicated to providing a quality product while maintaining affordability. Services include CNC carving, 3D CAD modeling and design, and laser engraving. Esteemed Woodcrafts will meet all your dedication requirements. Many services may be invisible to you when you commission a piece. For a better understanding of what is involved, the following is a breakdown of some of the steps: The first thing and most important is the consult. You can initiate a consult by sending an email to jimdarlas@esteemedwoodcrafts.com or just give us a call at (757)876-5868. Orders are only taken by email however. After the consult and the design is agreed on the design work begins “don’t panic” I donate a lot of my work to multiple orders and minimize art fees when possible but there still may be a charge for unique and proprietary work. The design work can entail anywhere from 2 to 30 hours or more so some patience will be needed on your part. The more detail you need the more involved the artwork is.After the design phase we will move onto approval. I will shoot you an email of the work and we will go over any necessary changes. I don’t take credit for my spelling so a thorough review will be needed on your part in that regard. After the proof is complete then the machine goes to work. This is really where the main expenses are. It cost to have a machine and that is really what the client (you) is paying for. Most of the work can take up to an hour to 6 hours or even more. Again that will depend on the detail and size of the design. Then comes the finishing process. The CNC does not always cut everything smoothly and some sanding is required. The plaque itself needs so be finished as well. This process takes anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes per plaque and carving. After sanding, then comes finishing. We use a handed rubbed application of Campbell’s Wood Song Stain Base and Howard’s Feed n Wax. This is about a 1 to 2 day process dependent on time restraints. The final step is getting it shipped or ready for pickup, and of course, “A Great thanks to you. For your service and of course coming to me for mine”.
